Early 1940s. Color woodcut on wove paper, c. 25 x 28 cm (block). Verso with estate stamp and work number 41/5/1205b. Presumably a unique hand print, as a studio fire in 1944 destroyed almost all of Wildemann's early work. Heinrich Wildemann became Willi Baumeister's successor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in 1955 and was close with Ida Kerkovius, Max Slevogt, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, and Willi Baumeister. Schmidt-Rottluff's stylistic influence is particularly evident in his woodcuts. Rare!
