Black stars and leaves are arranged on a midnight-blue ground scattered with touches of orange and gold, creating a visual effect reminiscent of light filtered through stained glass — an influence rooted in the stained-glass work Bissière undertook in the 1950s, which imbued his art with a subtle play of transparency, opacity and brilliance.
