Untitled 1981 is a Watercolour and Acrylic painting by Jim Dine, measuring 106cm x 218 cm. This is signed on the Far Right side “Jim Dine 1981. London” in black Pen & also in the Middle “J. Dine 1981” (heavily covered in paint) with what looks like a thick Black Felt Pen (or Sharpie). The heart has been a central subject throughout Jim Dine’s artistic career and is a recurring feature in his paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphic art. His use of this universal, uncomplicated symbol enables both himself and the viewer to apply their own emotions and ideas to the form. The heart becomes a blank page that can be filled with content and meaning. Dine began his career at the end of the 1950s as one of the youngest in a generation of artists that sought to move away from abstract expressionism.
Stunning Condition. Not examined out of the frame & therefore unable to obtain images of verso. But as you can see, paints are still completely vivid, paper is thick & has therefore not crushed or folded.
